The NY Giants have a new home and a new emphasis on getting back to the playoffs. Led by Head Coach Tom Coughlin, who is in the 7th year with the franchise, the team is focusing on defense this season. Last season’s defense was as porous as any in the league. Enter new Defensive Coordinator Perry Fewell, the former interim head coach of the Buffalo Bills. Fewell replaces Bill Sheridan, who was fired at the end of last season. Working with Fewell this season is Robert Nunn who was hired as the defensive line coach after Mike Waufle was fired at the end of last season.

Another key point of work this season is the offensive line. If the O-Line can get its swagger back and begin owning the line of scrimmage, the RB depth of Brandon Jacobs, Ahmad Bradshaw, Danny Ware and Gartrell Johnson will wreak havoc. "We have some hunger in our room," said Bradshaw, the fourth-year pro out of Marshall. "Me and Brandon are roommates, and we talk every day about how hungry we are and how excited we are to be running for this team. Every night we talk about us coming back and being a force that we need to be," Jacobs said. "We want to be up in the top two or three of the league, where we have always been."

In the draft, the team went on a defensive feast, filling 6 defensive and 1 offensive positions. With their first round pick, the team selected DE Jason Pierre-Paul (15th overall selection), DT Linval Joseph with their second round pick (46th overall selection), and LSU safety Chad Jones in the third round (76th overall selection). In the fourth round, the franchise selected Nebraska LB Phillip Dillard (115th overall selection). Rounding out the draft were OG Mitch Petrus (147th overall selection), DE Adrian Tracy (184th overall selection) and Punter Matt Dodge (221st overall selection).
